Entourage wont let me rebuild database. I am DESPERATE

My Entourage X became corrupted and i rebuilt the database. It
happened again, and it now will not let me rebuild the database. When
I now launch Entourage it says that it is unable to access the
database and suggests a rebuild. I click on typical rebuild, and it
then says Compacting failed, an unknown error (4361) occurred. I click
on OK and it says Typical Rebuild failed, would you like to try an
Advanced Rebuild. Click on Yes and it says Rebuilding Failed, an
unknown error (4361) occurred. I then click on OK and then get the
message Rebuilding Failed, it is likely that your database cannot be
repaired.

What can I do. I really hope that someone can offer me some
assistance. I have a huge amount of emails and contacts that i really
need, and yet again a lesson learned too late - I have not backed up
this information

Please, please, please help

Thanks

Jason, this has happened to me recently, so settle in for a long haul.
Firstly, did you lose your accounts, addresses and mailboxes? If so
then deleting preferences will not help. Is your original main and
personal identify still in tact?

I have a client with precisely the same problem. The only solution I can
find at present is using a utility called Entouraid which is downloadable
from www.versiontracker.com

Does anybody have any other ideas?

I click on typical rebuild, and it
then says Compacting failed, an unknown error (4361) occurred.

From the Error Page:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/errors.html#anchor-error4361>

If you are unable to start Entourage, you might not need to rebuild the
database to fix the problem. Instead, delete the following files from your
hard disk:

Preferences can be found in your ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/

Delete:
The entire MS folder
all com.Microsoft.*.plist

After deleting the preceding files, start Entourage again. If you are still
unable to start the program, you should perform a Typical Rebuild.

Hello Diane and Jason,

I have experienced this problem in the past, however, with my case
Entourage said that I didn't have the appropriate permissions to access or
rebuild the database file. What I discovered was that by going into my
users/<your account>/documents/MS Profiles and if you select Get Info for
the mail database file and look at the permissions, they might have been
reset to the System permissions. If this is the case, change the
permissions back to your user name.

I'd only suggest this if you're getting a permissions error though for
trying to either open Entourage and/or rebuidling the database file.
