Entourage won't load

Hi
3 months ago I successfully migrated Entourage 2004 from my tiger Imac to my leopard mac book. Last week for no apparent reason (apart from the regular updates) entourage stopped loading. When I click on the icon in the applications folder it just flashes then does nothing. I don't get any error messages it just doesn't load.

So here's what I've tried so far:
- database assistant told me the database was fine
- tried a new user and had the same problem
- removed office and reloaded from the purchase CDs
- I looked in Entourage and I have read write access
None of these things have changed anything.

The other office products work no problem.

I have temporarily reverted to Mail which is ok - however all of the emails and other data that is Entourage is lost right now.

Any help very much appreciated.

cheers

Nick

Have you also applied all the updates for Office? The latest is 11.4.1
and you can start with 11.3.5, which is a combo updater. And have you
applied the updates to get to 10.5.2?

Since the same behavior occurs under a new user this leads me to believe
that you may have a slight disk problem. If you have DiskWarrior then
see if it finds anything. All Apple Care customers get TechTool Pro, so
you might try that too.

Hope this helps!

thanks for the response. As I reinstalled Office this morning - I went through and downloaded all of the updates include 11.4.1 with no improvement.

I don't have the disc programs you mentioned I check the disc with "Disc utility" - it reported all ok.

Where can I get those disc programs from?

cheers

Hi Nick!

Disk Utility is basic and may not find everything.

TechTool Pro can be downloaded from Apple's website
<https://support.apple.com/techtooldeluxe/main?id=dl> if you have a
current Apple Care ID.

DiskWarrior is a third party utility that you can purchase from
<http://www.alsoft.com> or most Apple software retailers.

Hope this helps!

Entourage Won't Load

Help,I purchased the Student and Teacher Edition of Office Mac 2004 in 2004, however I did not install Entourage. Now I have reason to begin using Entourage 2004. I loaded in Entourage 2004, used the key from the purchase and I received this message.

This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage

I downloaded all the updates listed in this site. No Help. Any suggestions?

Since you added Entourage later, perhaps the updates you applied earlier
need to be run again. However, this is strange...how did our Entourage
Identity get set at the newer version if you did not use it?
This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in a more updated version. Since there was a
database format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database
saved in later version.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.
See ³Confused over Microsoft Update Version numbers?³ for a handy script
that gives you the Office application¹s version info.

Diane,
I may have used Entourage when I first loaded it and then moved to Mail with Apple to accommodate less confusion within our group.

No matter, your suggestions worked. I can now use Entourage as well as Mail. Thanks for the assistance.

When I grow up I'll be as savvy as you.
