Entourage X and IMAP rules

I am trying to assign categories to incoming mails in an IMAP folder
through a rule based on their From header;nothing happens when I try to
apply the rule to a message already in the Inbox. Can Entourage apply
these categories to IMAP mails?

Yes, it should be able to - please describe the steps you are taking in more
detail, and what form the failure takes.

Well, I create a filter called Staff under Mail (IMAP). Execute <if any
criteria are met> with a list of From: addresses (as in From contains
(e-mail address removed)) and ... D'OH! I just realised I fell foul of the pre-set
condition Set category to: None! I had added the category to be set and
had left the preset below it so what Entourage did was to set the
category and then unset it again, as per my instructions. Thanks for
making me look at it again!
