Envelope Address Paragraph Formatting

I'm trying to print an envelope with an address that is 7 rows long. I cannot
adjust the paragraph settings, however, to get the spacing to be 0pt. between
each row. The result is that the address does not fit on the envelope.

How do I adjust the line spacing in the envelope address? You can adjust
line spacing in a label, but not a envelope, by right clicking on the address.

You you can adjust line spacing for envelopes the same way, but you can't
set line spacing for either to 0 because each line of text would overprint
the next, rendering it unreadable. If you need to cram that much onto a
single envelope/label you'll have to use a smaller font size or a larger
envelope/label

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you're saying, but the confusing
thing is that when I type in the return address it too has a lot of space
between each line but, when printed, comes out as you would expect it to
(i.e., single spaced). Why is there is a discrepancy with the address versus
the return address in terms of what's seen on the screen and what prints on
the envelope?

The addresses are formatted with styles Envelope Address & Envelope Return.
The former has a fixed size frame, by default, which limits what can be
entered. The link shows how to change that. Note that for a seven line
address you will have to select it first as the envelope tool will probably
not recognize seven lines as an address.

Thanks for that link, that helps a bunch. I was able to enter the address in
Word 2003 without issue. While your solution will work for Word 2007 I
cannot, for the life of me, understand why it should be necessary to jump
through those hoops to recreate something that was possible in an earlier
version of the program. Is this supposed to be progress?

The issue was exactly the same in Word 2003? Word 2003 used a fixed height
frame by default also.

Possibly the problem in 2007 is the Space After in the Normal style? (Not to
mention the 115% line spacing.) If users enter addresses with paragraph
breaks rather than line breaks, this will expand the address vertically by a
goodly amount.
