Envelope icon in outlook

How do i get the little envelope icon next to emails in my Inbox to change to
show whether i have replied or forwarded a message ? In my older version of
office there is a blue or red arrow across the envelope icon when you have
deal with an email...

it should change as such. What is the environment you use? It can be an
..OST/.PST corruption issue. What if you temporarily redirect your email to a
new personal folder?
