Envelope printing

I have recently developed the same problem as reported on 12/08/08 by fcriddle (http://officeformac.com/ProductForums/Word/5585) using Mac OS 10.5.6 on an iMac: When I create an envelope using word I am not able to get it to print. The envelope content displays in print layout and if I view the envelope with print preview it too is blank. When I hit the "Print" command, the printer acts as if it is about to print, but does not and goes into its normal standby mode. I use an Epson Stylus CX5400 and it prints other word documents without a problem. I too have tried to save envelopes in .docx & .doc fprmats, but always with the same result as just described.

After I posted the above question, I found an earlier, very similar question that had a reply from from Daiya Mitchell, Nov 14, 2007, 1:29pm at <http://officeformac.com/ProductForums/Word/469/0>. That reply solved my problem and I suspect it will solve fcriddle's & johnmt's problems:
Word>Preferences>Print and check "Drawing objects" box. That's it -no fuss, no muss. But why did the unchecking of that box occur and how would most of us know about the solution???

P.S. It is too bad that such very similar questions are better correlated/cross-referenced. Many were but clearly some weren't.. One does not know whether to look at a Q two years back with one reply or a recent Q with one or 6 or 10 replies. I chose to look at recent Q's about envelope printing because seemed logical, but it was an older one that had the answer.

I am glad you found the answer.

There is nothing we are aware of that unchecks THAT preference. There are
other preferences that mysteriously get themselves unchecked dur to bugs,
but to my knowledge that's not one of them.

What you are looking at is a "Web Forum". It stores messages in the
sequence and with the heading supplied by the original posters.

Our attempts at "collating" the knowledge are here:

Myself and Daiya are the webmasters, although neither of us has had the time
to do much recently. This is an entirely volunteer activity, neither of us
works for Microsoft :)

If you would like to help out, trust me, we would be delighted with the
assistance!

Cheers
