Envelope Size Option

I am running MS Office Word 2004 for Mac OSX version 11.1 and have a
problem finding an option to print an address on a standard No 6 or 6
3/4 (3 5/8 x 6 1/2) envelope.

The pull down option in MS Word has all kinds of options for just about
any other size envelope. My wife check her PC Word and it does No. 6
envelopes.

Help, how can I configure my Mac MS Word to print the smaller envelopes.

Hi aRKay,

In the envelope Print dialog box, click on the Custom button. In the Custom
Page Options dialog box that comes up, click on the double arrow button at
the right of the Envelope Size pane. The first option that comes up is 6
3/4. If that doesn't do it, you can always set a custom size of your own.

Maybe the problem is my lame HP 1115 Photosmart printer. It may not
support printing to a No. 6 envelope?

Hi Dick,

I'm not having any trouble so let me list all the steps I'm taking and see
if they match yours:

1) Tools> Envelopes
2) Click on Custom button
3) Change Envelope Size to 6 3/4
4) Click OK
5) Click Print

What are you doing differently?

Beth,

Your five steps work but that is not my problem. I have a MS Word
envelope.doc file that I user over and over again as a kind of template.

1. I open the document from the finder and change the address

2. Go to Page Setup from the MS Word File menu and it produces a
standard dialog box with the Paper size saying #10 Envelope.

3. If use the Paper size pull down it shows all kinds of options but
does not show a No. 6.

How do I get the No 6 that shows in the Custom box (your note) to show
up in the Page SetUp paper size option?

Thanks

Dick

I have decided the problem is NOT with MS Word but with my HP Photosmart
printer that may now support printing to No.6 envelopes. I tried a Mac
MS Word on a network with multiple printers and different list of paper
sizes showed up with each printer.

End of Shaggy Dog story

Hi Dick,

I'm not sure it's the end of story, though I could be wrong. I got your
direct email to me and I think I know what's going on. The difference
between what I'm doing and what you're doing is that I never go to Page
Setup and you do. (If I *do* go to Page Setup, I don't see the #6 option
either.)

You say you already have an envelope.doc "template" for a #6 envelope,
right? And when you open it, it looks correct, i.e., like a #6 envelope?
So just hit Print without going to Page Setup first. The dimensions of the
envelope are already contained in the .doc; you don't need to specify them
again.

Also, as I said above, I don't see the #6 option when I go to Page Setup
either. I only see it when I hit the Custom button in the Tools> Envelope
dialog.

Then again, my printer is different than yours so maybe it *is* a printer
issue but I still don't think you're doing the same steps as I am.

Hi Dick,

I don't know if it will help but note that when you hit the Custom button,
there are also options to change the envelope orientation for printing.
It's at least worth experimenting with. (And, again, forget the Page Setup
dialog; just go to Print after changing the orientation.)
