EnvelopeExtra1 being trumped

Word 2000 for PC. Using Windows XP Pro

I have had a return address customized using EnvelopeExtra1 for a few years.
I accidentally entered an address in the return address box in the Envelopes
and Labels dialog box, and now I can't get EnvelopeExtra1 to work anymore.
Instead, it uses whatever address is in that return address box. I can't
just delete that address. The best that I can do is replace it with a single
space. But when i do that, I get no return address on the envelope. (I am
guessing that I am getting that single space on the envelope. Obviously, it
is hard to see that space, so I can't be sure.)

How can I completely delete that address? I tried deleting Normal.dot, and
the applicable word key from the registry, to no avail.

Thanks,

The address box in the User Information box was already empty.
I did look through the page on your site, but didn't see anything that worked.

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

I can't see why you cannot delete the address from the dialog? However,
rename normal.dot to normal.old and rename the settings sub key of the Word
data key to oldsettings with Word closed and restart Word. (
http://www.gmayor.com/my_toolbars_are_missing.htm will show how to locate
the key - note that Word 2000 is Word 9.0 - whereas the dialogs are for Word
11.0)

You will have to reconfigure some of your settings, and copy the autotexts
from the old normal template to the new using the Organizer (ALT+F8 >
Organizer).

I finally thought to replace normal.dot with an old backup of it, and now
everything works fine.

Thanks.
