Envelopes and Labels Function Not Working

P

Paul Motylinski

Am looking for assistance with the following. Using Word
2000 on a Windows 2000 Professional PC. Open Word, click
Tools, then Envelopes and Labels. The screens for this
function does not appear. Go to Task Manager and Word is
listed as "Not Responding". Removed Office and
reinstalled Office multiple times with no resolution of
issue.

Thank you,

Paul

See if the error still occurs if you start Word using the /a switch.
Go to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.

If the error doesn't occur then the problem could be caused by one of
the following:

Corrupt Normal.dot. Locate Normal.dot and rename it to OldNormal.dot.
Word will create a new one upon starting.

If this resolves the problem, any customizations can be copied to the
new Normal.dot via the Organizer (Tools/Templates and Add-Ins) Once
this is complete OldNormal.dot can be discarded. If the problem still
exists then you can delete the new Normal.dot and rename your
OldNormal.dot to Normal.dot.

Registry Corruption: See this article for instructions on rebuilding
the Word/Data key:

Global template/add-in: Go to Tools/Options/File Locations and note
the location of the Startup folder. Exit Word and locate the Startup
folder and see if any files are placed in the folder. If more than
one, move them one at a time and try starting Word after each file is
moved out of the folder until you determine which one is causing the
problem.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
