Envelopes print ltrhead for return address

I use a custom letterhead template to type letters. When I print envelopes,
the custom header from the letterhead prints across the top of the #10
envelope, exactly as if it is printing a new letter. Since my envelopes are
pre-printed with return address, the letter masthead simply prints on top of
it. I have tried checking and unchecking "Omit" for return address, even
though there is no return address for the software to select. I would say
that the software is interpreting the envelope as a new document (letter) but
it correctly prints the addressee information in the correct position. I use
Word 2000 and Windows XP Professional.

May be this is a case of "Why is my "Blank Document" not blank?" for which
there is a work around at:

Or, if you are adding the envelope to the document that contains the letter,
you may need to go into the header for the letter and uncheck the Same as
Previous button and then go to Section 0 of the document ( the one
containing the envelope) and delete the header informatoin.

I learned I have misled you. The person in the marketing department that
created the letterhead placed the letterhead logo and address as a picture,
not a header. Could this be the cause of my aberrant envelope printing?

Check for autotext entries called EnvelopeExtra1 or EnvelopeExtra2. These
would be automatically added to an envelope (see also
http://www.gmayor.com/Alternative_Return_Addresses.htm ) other than that
Doug's earlier response should still hold good.

Adding an envelope to a document should help show what the problem is.
