Hi,

I am well versed in using MS project 2003 and 2007 - inclusing adding tasks,
cost, schedule, EV,SV etc... , Baselining, Legents, Different vviews and
Reports....

However I don't have enough exposure in EPMand Timesheet data management.
I have MSproject 2007 installed in my syste. How I know whetehr its a server
or client,
How can I use Timesheet and distribute to users?
How Can I self explore on EPM using the MSproject 2007?

Any body to help me.

Rgs,
Ajith

Ajjith,

the best idea is to check out the Microsoft site which which gives you more
inforamtion regarding Project Server. With Projcet Server 2007 you certainly
have the abillity to implement a timesheet functionality.

Having said this, my experience is that it is best to contact an EPM partner
to assist you in the roll out of Project Server. You will be able to find a
partner near you by searching the Microsoft site.
Hope this puts you into the right direction

Thanks Marc, To give a high overview about the version.
I verified that I am having the professional version of project since it has
the link to connect to the Enterprise MS project Server from the tools menu.

To connect whether I need a MS project already installed some where which I
need to browse and link?
After that I think I can configure server by assigning users their task
alloacation and show each user only their needed task.- using roles and
license.

What about timesheet which is mentioned in lot of discussion. Whether I can
have a seperate timesheet application for my resources other than the
calender option available in normal project plan?
Whether the timesheet application is deployed in the MS server seperately or
is it in built with the professional version of MS project 2007 alone?

Please Help.....

Ajith.

Ajjith,

I believe you should familiarise yourself with the general features of
Project Server first and probably get some external advice. I am happy to
answer questions via the forum, but I can write all the feature sets down and
explain in detail what and how to use project server. I hope you understand
this.

But, the first thing you will need to do is install project server, which
will give you an URL ( something like http://projectserver/pwa), this is the
URL that you need to connect with Project professional to project server.
Users can be set up without project professional and also the timesheet.
Maybe it makes sense for you to buy a Proejct Server book. There are many out
there, but I can recommend the book from the projectserver experts.
check out there address on:

I hope this puts you onto the right path
