EPS Filter in Word 2003

Hi All

I am not sure if there is a solution to this based on searching the net but
here goes...

We have a number of Designers who use Adobe Illustrator CS to create images
for insertion into MS Word 2003 documents. These designers Save the files in
the eps format and then insert into MS Word 2003 before passing onto the
people who then provide the text in the document. However the designers or
writers are unable to view the eps files once they have been inserted into
the document - they do print out ok, but they need to be able to view them.

Is there a fix for this available from either Microsoft or Adobe that anyone
knows about?

We have a sort of way to get around it by Exporting the File (as opposed to
Save)into EPS 8 format and then Inserting it into Word but I would be
grateful if I could get a definitive answer on this. All the relevant
filters are installed for Office.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Whether the eps files are viewable in Word depends on whether they were
saved with a preview image in the first place. If saved without a preview
image, they'll still print OK but can't be viewed in Word beforehand.

Hi Mark,

In Word 2003 EPS graphic format support is built into Word.
It will generally render the EPS without a preview, but there
can be some incompatability with Illustrator CS, especially
if the level of Postscript support is set to one that is too
high (newer versions) of postscript.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the reply.

"especially if the level of Postscript support is set to one that is too

Is this fixable - if so how. I have a look in Illustrator CS but can't see
where this would be set (I realise that this a Microsoft not Adobe support
forum but hopefully you can point me in the right direction.)

Cheers
Mark
