EPS import into Pub 2003

I am trying to insert an EPS file into a Publisher document.

The file has been created with Adobe Illustrator.

The image does not appear--there is only a blank box where it is to be
imported.

I have installed the EPS filter, but the results are the same. I can save
the file as a Photoshop EPS, but then I lose the transparency I wanted in the
first place.

Is this a limitation of Publisher? Or is there something I'm just missing?

You may be missing the actual "preview" of the image, however, it should
print. Have you tried printing?
