equation editor 3.0 trouble

I am using equation editor 3.0 for Word 2003. For some reason when I click a
symbol an entirely different symbol is inserted into the equation. When I
click the summation symbol, for examle, little black squares are inserted
instead... How can I fix this problem??

Probably a font assignment issue. In the Equation Editor's menu, choose
Style - Define. Fonts should be as follows:

Text:Times New Roman
Function:Times New Roman
Variable:Times New Roman
L.C. Greek:Symbol
U.C. Greek:Symbol
Symbol:Symbol
Matrix-Vector:Times New Roman
Number:Times New Roman

Languages:
Text style:Any
Other styles:Any

Does this resolve the issue?
