Equation editor crashing

Manytimes, when I am using the built-in equation editor, MS Word has tendency
to crash. I have found that, although these crashes are sporadic in nature,
they have a higher frequency of occurence when I am backspacing a mistake in
my equation. Is there a fix available for this problem?

What version of Word are you working in,

and if in Word 2007 (which has two different equation editors):

Which editor are you working in?
Do you have Office 2007 Service Pack 1 installed?
What Equation view are you in (linear, professional, text)
Do you have any Right to left languages enabled?

Is this only in certain documents or any documents?

I am using Word 2007, and I am using the equation editor accessed by the
Alt+= shortcut. I do have SP1 installed, and I am in text mode, I believe.
The mode where you type it in, and when you hit enter, it looks all
professional. I have some right-to-left languages enabled, but I am not
using them in Word. This happens in all documents.
