The default font for the equation editor will not print
properly on any of our 4000 series HP laser printers. In
order to change the font you have to select each equation
and convert it to 'normal text', then go to home in the
ribbon and change the font. Does anyone know of another
method? This is pretty tedious for preparing a standard exam.
Judging by the fact that you're talking about converting the
equations to normal text, and referring to the Ribbon, I can see
you're using Word 2007, however, that knowledge would have been
helpful if explicitly stated. I'm also assuming that you're using
the OMML equation editor (i.e., the new equation editing tool in
Office 2007). Normally when someone uses the term "equation
editor", they're referring to the equation editing tool that's
been included with Office since Office 2, so you can understand
my initial confusion with your post.
The problems you describe are known problems, and also
[sometimes?] occur when printing to PDFs. I personally have
experienced this problem when printing to an HP LJ1200, but when
printing to my Dell 3200, it prints fine. My recommendations are
either to print to a different printer, or use the legacy
Equation Editor by selecting Object from the Text group on the
Insert tab, and choosing Microsoft Equation 3.0 from the list.
MathType 6, by the way, works very well with Office 2007, and
includes a MathType tab on the Word and PowerPoint ribbons. If
