Equation Editor font problems with Leopard

H

HeyPK

I never had problems with Equation Editor with Tiger, but, with Leopard, equations in Word or Power Point become corrupted. Delta signs frequently disappear or sometimes become an exclamation mark"!" A minus sign can become = or # or it simply disappears. Parentheses can become distorted or partially inverted. Frequently refreshing in Word by going a page up and then back can sometimes get the proper equation, but, more often than not, it is messed up. Building equations in text style reduces but does not eliminate the errors.

This sounds very much like a corrupt or missing font.

I suggest that you clear your font caches and reboot. See if that brings it
right. If not, come back and we'll suggest some other things.

These instructions are written for Word 2004. The fine names and locations
are slightly different in 2008 ‹ post back if you can't work it out.
