Equation Editor suddenly stopped working in Office 2004

I just tried to insert an equation in Word using Equation Editor. I
get "The server application, source file, or item cannot be found.
Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not
been deleted, moved, or renamed."

This is after I removed and reinstalled Office 2004. Twice. And
running Equation Editor straight from the icon isn't working either.
Help!

Did you remove it manually or using the uninstaller ??? In your case, I
suspect a pref file is corrupted and needs to be trashed (to be
re-created from scratch - clean).
