Equation editor

I have just switched from PC to Powerbook. I purchased MS
Office for students. I can not locate the equation editor
in this version of Office. My PC version has it under
OBJECTS. I really need this module do you know if its is
there somewhere or if I can download it or perhaps
purchase it seperately.

Thanks

Equation Editor comes with Office v.X or 2004.

If you purchased Office v.X, it comes in the Value Pack folder of your
Install disk. Run the Value Pack installer, and add it, and any other
items you wish, then run the updaters found here:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

You may not need the 10.2 updater, see

http://www.mcgimpsey.com/macoffice/office/vxversions.html

for the best way to tell which version you have installed. You need to
run the appropriate updaters whenever you install anything from the
Value Pack.

If you purchased Office 2004, I believe that Equation Editor comes
installed in the Microsoft Office 2004:Office: folder, unless you did a
custom install that omitted it.

In either case, when EE is installed, you can insert an equation by
choosing Insert/Object... and selecting Microsoft Equation from the
Insert Object dialog.

With Office X, if the Carbon Registration Database is corrupted (the
file is located in your pref folder inside a Microsoft folder), Office
might fail to list it. If it is the case for you, simply trash the
Carbon Registration Database and let Office re-create it (relaunch
Word). That usually does the trick,
