Equation Editor...

I am a teacher trying to use Word to write tests and I cannot write
fractions or any complex equations without using Equation Editor. I
followed the steps on the help menu and in the owners manual but still
can't figure it out.

I have put the little Editor icon on my toolbar but cannot access it.
On a PC - I could just upload it from the disc or server. What the...?

Also - I say that Excel has graph paper...I was wondering hoe do you
create different sizes and draw simple lines on it with out making it
look ridiculously hard or unproffessional.

If you can cut to the chase and want to talk to me directly. Email me
at (e-mail address removed)

If not I'll find my way back to this group.

Thanks ahead of time.

You've got me! In PC Office, you need to "Install" Equation editor or it
won't be there. That's not true in Mac Word: it's part of the default
install.

Try this:

1) Start Word

2) On the Insert menu, choose Object...

3) In Object dialog, choose "Microsoft Equation"

4) Click OK.

What happens?

If nothing at all happens, run the Office remover, then re-install Office.
Part of it has been damaged.

Cheers

Sorry to do this to you all mighty Word MVP. But I did what you said,
and same result. Is it important that I am using Student/Teacher
Edition, which I would find hard to be true because "teachers" would be
the ones who use equation editor.

Any other words of advice. I'll try to do any before I heave out a 2nd
story window.

Do you think Office:Mac can be a good dog chew toy?

You'll have a lot more luck getting help around here if you can resist the
temptation to get thingy when you don't like the first answer you get :)

My answer was necessarily imprecise because, as Daiya pointed out, you did
not give details of the version and level of your software: I can't read
your screen from here, and the answer's different depending...

The fact that you got the "same result" may be very significant to you, but
since you did not tell me what that result *was*, it gets me no further
ahead. See? I can be just as immature :)

I am trying to find out whether "Nothing" happened (The application is not
installed...) or "something" happened (the application is installed but not
working right...). If it's not working right, where's it failing? Start
Up? When the dialog appears? During operation?

It is OK to give Office:Mac to your Cat as a plaything, but do NOT give it
to your dog. The outer plastic wrapping breaks off into sharp bits that
will go down his throat :)

Sorry: Do what Daiya suggested, then come back to us with lots of lovely
detail and we can have a decent crack at helping you.

Cheers
