Friends!

Anyone knows whether there is a way to FORMAT (color the
text or background, etc) an equation created by the
Equation Editor?

Thanks.

The bacground of the whole object can bi clored if you
right click on the object. Choose format object, Colors
and lines, Fill.

You can change the background color. Right-click, choose Format Object,
Colors and Lines tab, you can set the Fill Color as desired. Using EE, I
don't know of a way to change the color of the text without changing it into
some kind of graphic (which then makes it uneditable using the Equation
Editor).

The EE's full version, MathType (www.dessci.com/), lets you do colors. If
you get the 30 day evaluation version, it reverts to "lite" mode after 30
days, but I don't know if the "lite" version lets you color the text.

That's correct. Unfortunately, there's no way to change the color of
the equation itself in Word. This can be done in PowerPoint by
choosing Format Object | Picture | Recolor. This works only while in
PPT. If you copy the equation from PPT and paste it into Word, the
equation will paste, but the color information is lost.

As Herb points out in a later post in this thread, with MathType you
can change the color of the equation, and even include several colors
in the same equation if you want (but don't get carried away!). To
clarify Herb's post, if you're using the 30-day evaluation version and
don't pay for it, many features will be disabled after the trial
period, but the product will remain usable in MathType Lite mode.
Color is one of the features that is disabled, and is only available
in the full version of MathType.
