Hello,

On equation writer I have some trigonometric pre defined functions
like Tan^-1, Tan, etc.

But in my native language, Portuguese, these functions are Arctg,
Tg, ...

Is is possible to created predefined custom functions for Equation
Writer?

Thanks,
Miguel

Yes, you can do that. Go to Office button > Word Options > Proofing >
AutoCorrect Options > Math AutoCorrect > Recognized Functions. Type a
function name in the box at the top, and click the Add button; repeat for
each function.

Thank You. It worked fine ...
.... just one question: is it possible to change the functions that
appear on the equation writer menu?

For example, replace tg^-1 by arctg? It is working as I type but I was
just wondering if i could add them to the menu.

Thanks,
Miguel

If it is possible to change the entries in that gallery (that's Word's term
for the "menu" of pictures), I don't know how to do it.

If there are particular equations that you use frequently, or that you could
insert and then modify, you can add those to the Equations gallery (which is
on both the Insert ribbon and the Equation Tools ribbon). Right-click the
equation in the text and choose "Save As New Equation".

I followed you initial suggestion to add my functions on Recognized
Math functions but a problem happens.
As I type Arctg the word is always italic then I press space and a
square shows where I type x so it becomes Arctg x.

Everything seems ok but the moment when I insert the "x" the word
Arctg stops being italic.

Shouldn't keep being italic as it is a function? All other function
inserted through the Equation Writer using the Ribbon are.

And when I start typing Arctg is always italic ... it only changes
when I insert the Arctg argument (x).

Any idea?

Thanks,
Miguel
