Equations as pictures

I have the same problem but have not found a solution. In my case I have far too many equations to want to retype all of them.

This is actually multiple problems.

No solution has been released yet. There is a solution in testing which
will be released when it passes (expected to be soon).

However, the bug has multiple causes, and Microsoft is not sure that all
have been found yet.

I would thus encourage you to email me samples of documents, before and
after they experience the problem, along with your full software and machine
details. The more samples I get, the more chance there is that the
Microsoft engineers can find and fix all the causes.
