Equations converted to pictures, arghhh

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Can you please fix the equation editor and/or OLE?

I just ran across the oft-reported bug where all my equations get corrupted and get converted to pictures. Now I can't edit them.

Apparently there is some faint hope that if I open my document with Office for Windows 2003 with Mathtype, they'll show up as equations again and I'll be able to convert them to Mathtype equations.

There is the additional problem that the "pictures" don't look quite the same in Word 2007 for Windows, so now my document is not really transferable to Windows users, even just for printing/viewing. Apparently I could maybe convert my pictures to PDF linked pictures instead of embedded pictures, which might make them look alright in Windows, but then I'd have a whole directory of pictures to send along with the document. That's hardly satisfying.

Mostly, I just want to log this problem again so that hopefully it gets fixed in Word 2011 due out later this year. If anyone has any new work-arounds that aren't in the forum archive, please post them here.

Hi John:

"No."

Sorry: we're not Microsoft, we can't fix anything.

If you want to send a request to Microsoft, use Help>Send Feedback from
within Word. Paste your posting into the web page that results from that
link, and it will go directly to the Microsoft unit capable of changing it.

We are just users like yourself, Microsoft staff don't read this forum
(they're busy making the next version, but even if they weren't, they would
not be reading here).

Cheers
