equations showing up as boxes.

i have a whole document written in word (not LaTeX only
since my advisor doesn't understand it) with a ton of
equations composed with microsoft equation editor.

all of a sudden, each block of equations is now just a
simple empty box on the screen. if i double-click, i can
see the equations, but upon exiting that editing mode, i'm
back to empty box.

can anyone out there help me?

lost in microsoft-land,
brett.

Make sure that you don't have either View Field Codes checked or Picture
Placeholders checked under Tools, Options. This may be a graphics driver
problem: are you using at least 256 colours (18-bit)? Have you got a printer
driver installed locally. What has LaTex got to do with this question?
