I want to insert an equation with the Microsoft Equations Editor
in line with text in a Text Box of Powerpoint, as can be done
within a line of text in Word. Cutting and pasting an equation
object, nor insertion of an equation object does not work, however.
Is there a way to do this?
Short answer, no.
Longer answer is to create the entire line in Equation Editor. To get
the standard round bullet character, hold down the ALT key on the
keyboard as you press 0149 on the numeric keypad (making sure NumLock
is pressed first). Switch to Text Style, space once or twice, type
your text, then switch to Math Style and type the equation. Make a
separate one for each bullet.
And I knew what you meant, but a text box is something else. You meant
a placeholder, but here's the weird thing about that... <rant>When
we're really talking about a text box, both Word and PowerPoint have
them. In Word, it's possible to wrap text and equations together
within the text box, but in PowerPoint it isn't. So in Word, not only
can you wrap text and equations within the text of the document, but
within text boxes as well. In PowerPoint, not only can you NOT wrap
text and equations within a placeholder, but not within a text box
either. Every time a new version of PPT is released -- Mac or Windows
-- I keep looking for Microsoft to throw us a bone on this one and
give us a way to do it, but it hasn't happened yet. Maybe some day for
my grandchildren.</rant>
