Equivalent to "Reveal Codes?"

Is there an equivalent in Word to WordPerfect's "reveal codes" command,
so that you can actually see what the formatting of your document is? TIA!

Hi Rose,

I use Word 2003.

When I click "Format" on the Menu toolbar, there appears to be an
option called "Reveal Formatting".

The results show on the right side of my page, where the task bar
usually displays. It shows font styles, paragraph alignment and
indentation, etc.

Would this be the type of formatting you are referring to?

In Word 2003 it's Shift + F1. This will show you all the formatting in
your document.

I hope this has been helpful to you.

If you have Word 2003, its version of Reveal Codes can be found in this
manner: Shift + F1. This will show you all of the formatting in your
document. I hope this has been helpful to you.

Thank you, Carol, but that's not really the equivalent of "reveal codes"
in WordPerfect, alas. WP would show you the text with all the various
changes of spacing, font, etc., allowing you to change something simply
by deleting the codes or typing in new ones. Thank you for your
response, however. I wish Word hadn't crushed WordPerfect quite so
thoroughly, since WordPerfect is a far superior product...sigh

Your observation is quite correct: Microsoft Word doesn't have
WordPerfect's capability of Reveal Codes and their easy manipulation,
although the Shift+F1 in the current version (11) is an improvement.

This is probably the single most important missing feature for users
switching from WordPerfect to MS Word, although there are quite a few
more. The good news is that WordPerfect can be used to edit Word
documents, so there is often no real compelling reason to switch.

Well said, PJ! :)

Perhaps the developers will listen to you (and the others) and make a
much better product (combining the best of both worlds), in 2006!
After all, it's the users that drive the sales.

There is a product that will let your Word looks exactly like your
reveal codes in Word Perfect. It's called Crosseyes. They have an
introductory price of $50.00. It's created by a company called levit
& james. They have other create products as well that work with Word.
