Carol

I produce powerpoint presentations and video (in Pinnacle) presentations to
present them on a large plasma screens. The powerpoint presentations have no
sound although the videos in pinnacle have sound attached so I need the sound
turned on on the plasma screens. There is a clicking between slides in
Powerpoint - does anyone know how this can be stopped?

Hi Carol,

1. Plasma screens and presentations.
Plasma screens are very susceptible to burn in and extreme care should be
applied to keep the images from being on the screen in one place for very
long. I've heard that they can burn in an image in as little as 5 minutes
of continuous display.

2. Sound in PowerPoint
Powerpoint does play sounds with movies or by themselves. Technically,
PowerPoint does not actually play the sounds, but it does trigger the
system's video/sound player to begin. What version of PowerPoint are you
using? This may make a difference in which player is being called and other
possible causes for sounds not being played. Are the sounds part of the
video files or separate audio files? What file formats?

3. Clicking
This is not the default. PowerPoint can be told to do this using a slide
transition sound clip. You may want to check if one has been applied. What
version of PowerPoint are you using? We'll give you directions on how to
check this based on the version you are using.

ISTR that Pinnacle uses a proprietary codec, and it may even overwrite your
existing codecs. I suspect that's the problem here. See

To be honest, I think the easiest thing for you to do will be to download
PFCMedia and let it convert your videos. http://www.pfcmedia.com There's a
fully functioning trial at the site, and it will be worth the cost of the
program after the trial's expired just to be able to avoid having to track
down the problem on your systems. Plus, if you have to produce lots of
video, it will just make your life easier in the long run.
