Erratic formatting

Office XP Mail merge.

Within a condional field, the correct paragraph is being
picked BUT on printing the merged document, the formatting
in that paragraph disappears and other words are randomly
underlined. Why?

So far I have
1. recreated NORMAL.DOT.
2. saved the document as rtf & resaved it in DOC format
to no avail.

Any ideas?

Why?
Don't know - XP doesn't seem very consistent on this one. I'd consider
adding a \*Mergeformat switch if there isn't one, or adding it if there
isn't. It may help if you can bookmark the paragraph without its trailing
paragraph mark, and add the necessary paragraph marks in the mail merge main
document. Or vice versa.
