erro -10660 can't open documents

i can no longer double click on a document to open it UNLESS word is
already open. if it is, i can double click on any doc and it opens or
i can go to file/open within word. but i have always been able to open
word by double clicking on any document created in word. i get the
error -10660, anyone have any thoughts? i have tried repairing
permissions and tossing the prefs but no luck...thanks.....gail

You probably have a version of Office in your trash, try emptying your trash
and try double clicking the documents after you did that.
