erroe when emailing pst file

J

Jack S.

Using Win XP Home SP2 with OL 2002 SP3 on a stand alone notebook [no network]
I need to send an updated contacts list to my boss each quarter. I export the
relevant contacts to a pst file. when I attach the file [2 MB] to an email OL
gives me an error msg that:
This item contains attachments which are potentially unsafe... send anyway?
Selecting "Help" shows a list of extensions which would invoke this error
msg, but pst is not amoung them.
There is no administrator to add extensions to the list.
If I send anyway OL blocks access to the attachment when it is in my sent
items folder.
My boss does not receive the email at all - which may be due to our incoming
security settings - but why am I gttting the message on my end?

ZIP the file before sending it or change the extension to something mutually
agreed upon

Russ: I surely now know that a pst file can trigger the security alert, I
simply stated the truth that, in OL 2002 sp3, when selecting the help button
when the error message appears, the pst extension is NOT listed as a file
extension which would cause the error message - and there is no other
administrator who might have added the extension - as noted at the bottom of
the help window as a possible source for additional extensions not listed.

PST files are most certainly among the files that trigger the security

Probably neither the first time nor the last that the Help files leave
something to be desired, I suspect.
