erroneously short page lengths

MS Word 2002 has been acting up lately. Now it has
artificially set page lengths at about 3.6" regardless of
my normal margin controls being in place. Please advise.

Thanks.

Are you talking about page length or page width? In either case, you need to
display nonprinting characters (Ctrl+*) to help you sort this out. If width
is the problem and you're seeing paragraph marks (¶) at the end of each
line, see http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/CleanWebText.htm. If
length is the issue, look for manual page breaks or paragraphs with black
square bullets in the left margin (which could indicate that they're
formatted as "Keep with next"). Moreover, for length, check on the paper
size. The last time I saw this problem, the paper size was set at something
like 4.5" H.

The article on pasting from the web unfortunately didn't
address this problem. In this case, one of the problems
is that text carried from one MS Word doc to another ends
up with a different margin formatting than either
document. What could possibly be causing that?

Thanks again,
JT
