error(0x80040900)

I keep getting this msg: error(0x80040900): 'the server name you entered can
not be found on the network (it might be down temporarily).

I am connecte to the internet and everything is working fine, except
recieving and sending mails through outlook 2003.

i have a local area connection,

how can i solve this problem???? Help needed.

Being able to connect to the Internet and being able to connect to the mail
servers properly are only marginally related. You must be able to do the
former in order to do the latter, but that's as far as it goes. I seems you
have not configured your mail account server properties correctly. Contact
your ISP's support team and they should be able to help you configure
Outlook.

Thanks Brian...

the mail account server properties, are configured properly since they were
working well before. i even tried disabling the anti virus Nod32,,, but still
i can not download... by the way if i use another Local area network, it
works great,,,,

i am lost,,,

Then clearly the issue is with networking and not Outlook. You should ask
your question in a networking group for your version of your operating
system. There are any number of reasons why you might see what you do for a
network issue, like a firewall.
