It doesnt matter which version of outlook this isnt an outlook error
its a server error with hotmail. It probably gives error 0x800ccc33
this is common to free hotmail accounts, the newer free hotmail
accounts cant be used in any outlook, but the older ones can. Mine is
doing this now although my hotmail account is over 14 years old. I
recently changed my email password and some account info. I thought
this caused the error but I see more people having this problem this
week...

Rubbish. Outlook 2003 and 2007 can both access new or old free Hotmail
accounts via the Outlook Connector, Outlook 2002 and earlier can access old
or new free Hotmail accounts via POP. The OP states a problem that indicates
he's using an HTTP account in some version of Outlook. Today Microsoft
disabled HTTP (WebDAV) account access. How to get access to the account now
that the protocol no longer works is Outlook version dependent.

Please don't give false or misleading information. Research your answer

I, too, began having this problem today. I run Outlook 2003 on Windows XP.
I also use YPops to allow Hotmail to go thru Outlook.

Everything was working fine yesterday, but today I am having problems. I
tried Outlook Connector this morning, but it didn't help. I even did a
System Restore to yesterday in the hopes that would fix it, but the problem
persists. Any ideas on how to remedy the situation?

Thanks.

The new messages that came in during the period of time I couldn't access
hotmail via Outlook. Yesterday, I did a system restore again and downloaded
Outlook Connector again. I was able to receive messages, but not send. Then
a few hours later, I was able to send. Don't know what was going on, but at
least I can send & receive now via Outlook.

The one thing I'm still trying to resolve is my calendar. I now have some
items in the new Outlook folder I created for my hotmail address (I started
fresh and didn't use my old folder) and in the archive folder. So, to view
everything, I have to look at 2 calendars. Any idea on how to merge the
calendars into one? The archive folder shows all my repeating events such as
birthdays, while the personal folders calendar shows all of the "one-off"
items.

Thanks.

Any idea on how to merge the calendars into one?

Switch into table view and drag and drop the items from one to the other?

How do I switch to the table view? I can't seem to find that option in the
drop down menu.

View - Current View - By Category should work.

So what's the fix for this problem because I'm having it too? I shouldn't
have to download Outlook Connector to make it work.

Windows Live changed the way HTTPMail access works, effective Sept. 1, 2009.
If you are using MS Outlook, then will either have to download Outlook
Connector (only works with OL2003 and OL2007), if you want to continue to
use HTTPMail access. Otherwise (either older versions of Outlook, or don't
want to download Outlook Connector), you will have to set up access using
POP3/SMTP. Be advised that POP3 does not synchronize online folders, as
HTTPMail does; it only downloads the contents of the Inbox. And dumps them
into a common Inbox in the local client; i.e., all POP3 email is jumbled
together into a single local Inbox.
The link above didn't give any answers only other people with the same problem
- error 0x800CCC33.

That link has some very incorrect information.
My account worked perfectly yesterday in Outlook, it should
work perfectly today.

No, it should not work at all today (Sept. 1, 2009). That is the deadline
for disabling a component of HTTPMail which is included in MS Outlook
Express, MS Outlook 2003, MS Outlook 2007, and MS Entourage. Subsequent to
this date, you must make some changes in order to continue access Windows
Live Hotmail with a client.

If you are using OL2003, or OL2007, and wish to be able to synchronize your
local folders with the online Hotmail folders, you will need to download the
Outlook Connector:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102225181033.aspx

If you do not wish to use the Outlook Connector, or have an older version of
Outlook, you will need to set up POP3 access:

<http://windowslivehelp.com/solution...your-e-mail-account-to-microsoft-outlook.aspx>

Be advised that POP3 does not synchronize online account folders, it only
downloads the online Inbox.
