Error 0x8C04000D, depending on project manager

For one ressource we receive the error message "The Windows user account or
user name for the affected user account conflicts with an existing account on
the server (0x8C04000D)." in some cases. In fact it depends on the project
manager.

There is no conflict with an existing entry in the MSP_WEB_RESOURCES
database table in Microsoft Project Server.
The resource name of the person assigned to tasks in the project that we
want to publish is correctly matched to the appropriate Windows user account.
Both aspects are checked.

Depending on the project manager we detected that the field "Windows User
Account " in "Resource Sheet" is empty in some cases (for some project
managers). Entering "Windows User Account" manually before publishing
prevents from this error. When re-opening the project, this field is empty
again.

Who has an idea what happend to that project/task/resource and what could be
done to resolve?

Thanks in advance!

Open the enterprise resource pool (Tools/Enterprise Options/Open Enterprise
Resource Pool...) fill in any blank "Windows User Account" fileds that are
blank. If the these users don't have a windows account they must use a
project server account. This should fix your problem.

The reason that these come back blank after filling them in in the project
plan is they are refreshed from the ERP each time the project is opened.
This is the case will all enterprise resources.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the answer - but the field is filled in enterprise resource pool.
Only to 2 project managers (so far, fortunaltely) this information is not
shown in their projects (in resource sheet) for one ressource. Two other PM
don't have an issue with the same projects when opening, they see complete
information entered in enterprise resource pool.

So I do understand the error message - windows user account can't be matched
for this resource, since field is empty in some cases. But why can it be
empty for pm1 and correctly filled for pm2. We even switched ownership and
manager several times. It is not changing anything. pm2 sees correct data,
pm1 not ......

Ever seen anything like that before?

Could it be that one PM is using the 'build team from enterprise...' feature
and the other PM is not when allocating resources to the project?

Just a thought...

Thanks for your idea. Certainly they are working in different ways ....

But in this case I am talking about one project which is shown with
different information depending who is opening the project.
