Error 1025 - can't open inbox

W

Wesson Gaige

I've testing the trial Entourage 2004 which came with my new iMacG5. I got
all my setting from the old Entourage X. On my main mail server, I get the
1025 error message. Says something about permission 1777 on
/var/spool/mail. I take it this is on the server.

Can someone explain what is going on? And how to fix it?

I like the new look, but will be no good if can't open inbox.

Are you saying you are using Entourage with your Microsoft User Data folder
on the server? This problem was fixed with SP-1

<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=883951>

Microsoft User Data folder is accessible from network volume

Accessing your Microsoft User Data folder from a network volume sometimes
caused problems. Sometimes, when you tried to access the folder, you
received an error message that is similar to one of the following:
Entourage cannot access your data. To try to fix the problem, rebuild your
database.

An unknown (16008) error occurred.

This issue has been fixed.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm using the free trial which came with my new iMac G5. Can I use the
upgrade against the Free Trial?

If I install the 'real thing' and apply the upgrade, the problem will
disappear?

Will the 'real thing' use the settings, rules, et al. that I've set up?

TYI

I did install the real thing and applied the update. The problem is not
solved.

I can read all folders on the imap server except the inbox. Trying to read
the inbox produces the 1025 error.

This is not a server problem. Entourage X and Apple Mail read the inbox
fine, but not Entourage 2004.

This problem occurs on all accounts I use on the server.

Is this perhaps a server that requires an address for the Root folder on
Options page of the account? Ask your IT person or ISP.

Geez folks. If it works with Entourage X and Apple Mail, the problem is
with Entourage 2004. I shouldn't have to hunt down archain info about the
server. Entourage 2004 should work, too. Or there should be HELP to tell
me what to do.

Maybe it should. Maybe something got messed up. Try defining a new account
in entourage to look at that server. Type the info into the account
definition boxes manually - don't use copy/paste.

The problem exists on all accounts on the server. But will try setting up
new one and report.

I've contacted the server help people. They are just as confused.

Why is MS so full of itself that it won't even help? And I paid $500 for
this problem!!!

OK So I created a new identity and tried to access one of the addresses
with a new 'account' where I typed everything in new. It still gets the
1025 error.

Any other thoughts?
