Error 1324 Help

I have tried almost every concievable proceedure to get help and/or correct this error myself, but all to no avail. It my has been a problem since an download that screwed up the Office Program (which ids the best guess I have). The Word Program, or another Program from Office will not open. The computer displays; Error 1324, The folder 'Program Files' contains an invalid charter. Please hekp if you can. Thank You.

a.) Goto regedit
b.) Goto the following path:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

c.) look at the right for the following value:
ProgramFilesDir

What is this value set to?

d.) look at the right for the following value:
ProgramFilesPath
What does the ProgramFilesPath say?

e.) Are these correctly pointing to the right drive letters on the computer?

If not change to the correct ones and re-run the office installation.


Step 3:

Finally if this doesn't work, you could try the following:

1. Uninstall Office 2000, through Add/Remove Programs

2. Run Eraser 2k to remove the remaining files

3. Use the the WIndows Installer Cleanup Utility as detailed below.
