Error 1327.Invalid Drive when installing

Q

In Vista, I'm trying to install Visio Professional 2007 and after a few
minutes of the setup running I get this error:

Error 1327.Invalid Drive: R:\

I'm 99% sure the cause of this is that I have relocatied my user folders
like Documents, Music, etc to a network drive. Aside from remapping them back
to a local drive is there anyway to workaround this problem?

BTW, MS, I'd label this as a bug.

Have you checked the knowledge base....there's many articles on 1327 errors
like the one below:

873301 You receive a "Error 1327. Invalid Drive... " error message when you
install Office 2003
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;873301

The article also applies to Visio 2003 but it was left off the applies to
section.

I have done some searching both with MS' KB articles and in general and
you're right, there are a numbef or 1327 related articles. Unfortunately,
none of them were a perfect match for my problem.

I confirmed my suspicions by temporarily changing my Document, Music,
Videos, etc folders back to a local drive. After doing this it installed
fine. Unfortunately, this is a pretty inconvenient work around.

I redirect the Documents and Music... Start menu shortcuts on my Vista
machine to a network drive (R) mapped to a share I have Full Control NTFS
permissions to and Visio 2007 installs without any errors. I must be
missing something....

To redirect, I'm clicking on Start button, right-clicking on Documents and
going to Properties, Location tab, Move button, selecting the desitination
(network drive) and saying No to move files from that location.
