Harry

I am trying to install SR-1 to Office XP but keep getting
the following error message:
ERROR 1328 ERROR APPLYING PATCH TO FILE
C:\CONFIG.MSI\PT93.TMP. IT HAS PROBABLY BEEN UPDATED
BY OTHER MEANS, AND CAN NO LONGER BE MODIFIED BY THIS
PATCH. FOR MORE INFORMATION CONTACT YOUR PATCH
VENDOR.

(1)The only patches I have installed are for and by
Microsoft.
(2)The is no "C:\config.msi" folder on my drive.
(3)I need help from someone who can tell me why this is
happening, and a way to get around it.

Thanks.

There is a very simple way to fix this problem. Stop
listening to Microsoft! Go to this link (which, oddly
enough, is based solely on Microsoft's own help files and
manuals!):

http://notorious.dezines.com/notorious/articles/xpsp1.htm

Follow the instructions carefully, and you, just like I
and at least 12 other people that I have "thank-you" e-
mails from, will be running Office XP at SP-2 + level. I
say SP-2 +, because after you update to SP-2, and SP-2,
there are 4 other updates on the Microsoft Office Update
Site that you can download and apply once the Service
Packs are in place.

Note: The article may sound intimidating; believe me, it
is not! Follow the instructions one small step at a time
and you will be finished in about a half an hour! Totally
up-to-date and error free!
