Error 1402.Setup--Cannot Repair--Code 57A Errors During Updates

W

Windows 7 64-bit, Office 2007 Enterprise edition
Many people have reported this issue, but after 3 days and a dozen (wasted)
hours, none of the sugestions I've read so far, have yet worked. Suite apps
all work fine...it is just that for some of the "important updates", the
install fails (Code 57A). When I try to repair off the DVD, I get the
"...cannot open the registry key UNKNOWN\Components\(...)\(...) Verify that
you have sufficient permissions..." Then I am directed to a file for
instructions on how to contact Microsoft PSS--only the file doesn't exist(?)!
[I honestly think that I could get a hacked version to work faster, with
fewer errors, than the time it has taken me on my legitimate version!]
I have screwed with every registry key on my C:drive and it has had no
effect...full control to everyone and their brother, no effect. I REALLY
don't want to reinstall, plus most say reinstalling will not fix all the
garbage that Microsoft has added as an attempt to deter piracy. What good is
the repair app, if run from the DVD, it cannot fix permission issues?

Do you have your documentation from the purchase of Office 2007 Enterprise. Call the
phone number that was given to you for free telephone support for that version of
Office. ***Again*** Make sure you have you documentation on hand when calling for
free phone support

I bought my Office Ultimate online at a special student discount so there was
no documentation. I have the exact same problem as above (Code 57A and Error
1402) on Windows 7 Home Premium.
