Error 1406 on installing Project Standard 2007 Trial version

When I attempt to install the trial version of Project Standard 2007 I get
the following error dialog box:

Error 1406: Setup cannot write the value to the registry key
\Equation.3\CLSID. Verify that you have sufficent permissions to access the
registry or contact Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) for
assistance....

Any idea what is wrong and how to correct it?

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition
