Error 1406 when trying to install SP2

When I try to install SP@, I get an error message referencing 1406-setup
cannot write the value to the registry key \CLSID
{13DE4A42-8D21-4C8E-BF9C-8F69CB068FCA} Inproc Server 32.

I went into registry editor and changed this subkey to read "Everyone" [er
the MS suggested fix, and I tried to install, but got the same error message.

Any suggestions?

Are you sure you're an administrator on the machine? Are you in a corporate
environment? Have you been able to update Office in the past?
