error 1406

While trying to install Office 2007 beta, I got the following error message:

Setup cannot write the value CLSID to the registry key
\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Extensions\{92780825-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263}

Then the installation rolled back and disappeared. What happened? What do I
do?

did you try it a second time? not sure how much support you will get being
beta
that registry key is for the research pane in internet explorer
you don't have another version of office already installed, do you?

I will try it a second time on a different computer. I do already have
another version of office installed on the one where it failed.

that could very well be the problem
if you want it on that machine, uninstall the office that's on there now
first
