Error 1450 in Word 2002 on XP

Whenever I try to open Word (or Outlook which used Word)
I get this error message. It is always Error 1450 but it
then says it cant open dictionaries (or speech
recognition, or help) due to lack of resources. I don't
know how to improve my resources. I only have the one
program open. I have 512mg Ram and 50gb spare hard drive.
Am on Pentium 4.
I have reloaded over and over.
Outlook ends up hanging after about 5 mins.
This is driving me crazy! any ideas?
