Error 1605 PPT 2002 (XP)

A co-worker is trying to change colors in the template. However, when she attempts to open the Slide Design, an error message dialog box opens and states " Microsoft can't display the template in the document. Microsoft Powerpoint can't install the neccessary files dues to Windows Installer error 1605. Action is only valid for products that are currently installed." All we want to do is change some attributes of the template. Any ideas??

This computer is owned by another department and the problem is I don't have the installation media which is *required* for this fix (as described by Microsoft). What would cause this error message to appear? Any other fix, you know of, that may work?

I would get the IT department involved and let them fix it. They should
have the installation media. As you can see, the fix is quite complex.
There is no easy fix offered.
