error 1608

i'm trying to reinstall office 2000 sr-1 premium. After installing disc 1,
I'm receiving error 1608 staing "could not find any previously installed
compliant products on the machine for installing this product". i'm no pc
wiz, consequently, i have no idea what to do. Help !!!!!!!

You apparently have an "upgrade" version of Office 2000. See
