I installed MS Office 2000 Premium in Administrator's
account (you have to, otherwise setup won't work) and
upgraded to SR-1a. My machine has multiple users. If
anyone, except Administrator, tries to run any program in
Office, the Office setup program will be initiated and
get the following message no matter if the Office CD is
in the CD drive or not.
Error 1706. No valid source could be found for product
Micosoft Office 2000 SR-1 Premium. The Windows installer
cannot continue.
This problem occurs in both Windows 2000 or Windows XP no
matter which one you use. The program initiated can
finally be opened but some futures won't work and some
functions behavior abnormally, especially for FrontPage.
There're tons of papers in the Knowledge Base about Error
1706, but no one exactly match my case and no one can
solve the problem.
