Error 1706 Office 2003 Student Teacher Edition

Today I started receiving a dialogue box saying "Please wait while Windows
configures Microsoft MapPoint North America 2004". This is happening in all
my Windows programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook & Word). A couple more
dialogue boxes and I wind up with an "Error 1706". I know what the error
means - but why all of a sudden is Windows trying to install MapPoint 2004
when I open these programs? And - how do I make it stop?
