Error 1706 - Setup cannot find req'd files...

I have Windows XP and Office XP and used them very successfully for 6months.
Just very recently, when opening Office XP, I am getting "Erro 1706 - Setup
cannot find required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD-ROM
drive. For other Potential solutions to tjis problem see
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\1033\SETUP.HLP"

I hit "Cancel" several times and finally I get to Office XP but run into
limitations in it's funstionalit that I never had before the Error 1706
appeared. SETUP.HLP is NO help either!

Where did this Error 1706 comefrom and how do I get rid of it? Help PLEASE!
