I have a user who installed my application months ago and has used it
successfully for about 6 months. A few weeks ago she had to replace the
motherboard and then reinstall the operating system - Windows XP
Professional. Ever since then, when she starts my Access application the
Windows Installer starts and says "Preparing to install..." Then she gets a
message that says "Please wait while Windows configures DAO." Then the
error message appears, "Error 1706. No valid source could be found for
product DAO. The Windows Installer cannot continue." But it does continue,
and goes into an endless loop. If she presses exit several times, she can
exit from the installer and then my application seems to run OK.
I must also add that she is running my application under the Access 2002
Runtime, and that she also has Microsoft Office installed on her computer.
My application was originally installed on her computer using Sagekey's MSI
Wizard 2002.
I have had her do a Detect and Repair through Office, thinking that might
overwrite any DAO dll's with fresh copies, but that did not solve the
problem. I have also had her uninstall my application and re-install it, but
that didn't fix the problem either.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct the problem?
Thanking you in advance,
BobV
